Looking less and less like fiction

My novel, AMERICA LIBRE, is a cautionary tale that warns of a near future when violence by Anglo supremacists sparks an uprising in urban barrios filled with restless Hispanic youths idled by a deep recession. Eventually, the turmoil becomes a second Civil War. News reports like the one below from CNN make the premise of the novel look less and less like fiction.

A new report released today by the Southern Poverty Law Center warns that militia groups with gripes against the government are regrouping across the country and could grow rapidly.

The report points to the stress of a “poor economy” and a “liberal administration” led by a black president as contributing factors to the recent rise. It also lists conspiracy theories like secret Mexican plans to reclaim the Southwest amid the public debate about illegal immigration.

This is not the kind of prophecy I would like to be known for predicting.
