Huckabee hops on the nativist bandwagon

Following the lead of fellow Republican presidential hopefuls Giuliani and Romney, Mike Huckabee has reversed his moderate stance on immigration and jumped aboard the hard-line bandwagon. During the November 28 debate, Huckabee came under fire from fellow GOP contenders for his support of scholarships to the children of illegal immigrants as governor of Tennessee. “We’re a better country than to punish children for what their parents did,” Huckabee said in defense of his support.

However, faced with flamethrower rhetoric of the anti-immigration chorus, it seems that Huckabee would rather win the nomination than make this a better country.
